Special issue of Liquid Crystals in honour of Pierre-Gilles de Gennes
Pierre-Gilles de Gennes was one of the truly greats, not only in the field of liquid crystals, but in soft matter physics in general. He received the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1991, and died in Orsay, much too early, in 2007, aged 74.
The journal Liquid Crystals recently recognised de Gennes by publishing Volume 36, Issues 10&11 as a special double issue in his honour. On more than 300 pages it contains 27 invited articles by well known researchers in our field, covering a diverse range of liquid crystal topics, and of course also the life and contributions of Pierre-Gilles de Gennes.
I strongly encourage you to start reading!
