Helen Gleeson awarded an OBE by the Queen
The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire was established as the most recent of the British orders of chivalry in 1917 by George V. It is awarded in five different classes. On October 30th 2009 Helen Gleeson, the current Vice-President of the International Liquid Crystal Society, was recognised with an OBE (Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for her services to science. The presentation ceremony took place in Buckingham Palace, London, and was conducted by the Prince of Wales. Congratulations Helen!
