New start up from ALCOM

CodAdna Photonics, Inc. is the latest of several companies founded from the ALCOM Center of Research Institutes where they are researching and developing new and inovative ways to improve and speed up the future communications industry.

The company has been developing and array of systems variable optical attenuators, dynamic gain equalizers, optical switches, tunable filters, polarisation mode dispersion compensators and add/drop modules. Aimed at providing better solutions to low power, higher density and integration into components, CoAdna has developed their patented LightFlow technology. Taken from the ALCOM Update, Dr Haiji Yuan, co-founder of CodAdna comments ‘Liquid Crystal based components have unique features and the potential to add more intelligence to optical networks – the backbone of the Information Super Highway’.

CoAdna is based in San Jose, CA, but have also opened a facility in Ohio to conduct and develop the liquid crystal elements.
