Sharp launch new LCD TV range

Sharp has announced the launch of a new series of LCD televisions. The 'Aquos' range will comprise of 3 models with 13, 15 and 20 inch screens. Described in the Sharp press release, 'Measuring around 6cm in depth and weighing in between 3.8kg and 8.3kg, all are truly portable, slimline TVs, that can be carried easily from room to room using the integral carry handle. They are also designed to be wall mountable for the ultimate example of modern TV viewing'. Describing the technology used, 'Aquos technology comes in the shape of Sharp's unique Black Thin Film Transistor (TFT) panel, which features a seven layer anti-reflective coating to offer unrivalled picture quality in all lighting conditions. The VGA (921, 600 pixel) display is perfectly suited to TV broadcasts and DVD movies, whilst a contrast ratio of 350:1 and 430cd/m brightness provide vivid images with almost 50% higher brightness than previous generation LCD screens. The viewing angle of 160 both vertically and horizontally allows TV programming to be enjoyed from almost any part of a room'.

A multi-system tuner means the TVs are compatible with PAL, SECAM and NTSC broadcast. RGB Scart, S-Video and Audio input terminals, allowing the TVs to be connected to a wide range of home entertainment sources, including DVD and VCR.
