Goodby gets Honour

John Goodby, the current President of the International Liquid Crystal Society, has been awarded an honorary degree by Trinity College, Dublin.

John is known for his innovative synthetic chemistry and has had strong links with the group of Professor Jagdish Vij at Dublin for some years now. The basis of the collaboration is the physical measurements performed by Prof. Vij's group (primarily infra-red and dielectric spectroscopy) on the antiferroelectric materials produced by Prof. Goodby and his group at Hull.

Date: December 2002
